Why can't I delete a file?

when trying clean files in adobe acrobat dc, discovered cannot delete files. when right click file name, sends me infinite holding pattern results in closing non-responsive program.  checked security of documents, , there no "security" elements attached document prevent deleting. 

any suggestions within acrobat or otherwise appreciated.  growing concern these corrupted files , may harmful drive.

does throw error message when try delete files? if yes, please share can analyse issue @ our end .
