ID throwing "Internal error" on document

i have document 2016 calendar 12 pages. opened update , typeset 2017 calendar, , indesign keeps putting dialog says "internal error." gives no further information.

 

i went , opened 2015 calendar file , doesn't cause error.  may have corrupt document, not sure.

 

any guidance appreciated.

i have multiple copies of calendar files going years. have tested going last years archive. file opens without conversion cause internal error. document old enough have converted, not have errors.
