Speed up my aging machine?

i give little background. here machine:

mac pro (mid 2010)

2.4 ghz x2 quad core ( 8 cores)

32 gb ram ( slots full)

amd radeon hd 7950 3 gb video ram

i have 3 of 4 hard drive bays being used.

     - 1 has original 1 tb drive boot

     - 2 has 1 tb drive scratch disc photoshop

     - 3 has 4 tb drive general file storage

     - 4 empty

all drives above standard sata drives.

i professional retoucher/ digital artist clients in entertainment world. create key art movies , video games. files can insanely large.

most of files built @ 38" x 52" @ 300 dpi layered , demands of studios requires final deliverables ever aspect layered , none destructive because change

their minds constantly. average full sized layered photoshop file me anywhere between 6-16 gigs.

i want upgrade new mac pro when want max out machine as possible. 5-8 grand , waiting see if apple releases new mac pro soon. in mean time want spend little give old machine boost until can new one.

here question. give me biggest bang buck in photoshop speed? should ssd boot drive? should ssd scratch disk? should pci e card boot

or scratch disc?
