How can I create a sharp/different gradients like this?

i'm trying replicate gradients in image struggling know method(s) use. can create gradient not 1 angles inwards both directions in image.

 

furthermore, , tricky part me, tip of cap (left side of image) has 2 small gradients create depth effect, how did this? have been gradient mesh?

 

i've highlighted mean in red , i;ve included version below can see i'm struggling.

 

any hugely appreciated, thanks!

it's photoshop bevel effect , alleged highlights artifact algorithm used. being case, it's moot point whether or not there magic way in ai. use ai's blends , 3d bevel effect , draw additional highlights on top.
