What's the Optimal Video Compression - in Premiere Elements?

hello everyone,

this post propositions based on experiences, optimal video compression, viewing quality versus file size.

as being photographer many years, have learned , come conclusion optimal jpeg compression, rule of thumb in photoshop in many cases 10/12 prints.

two similar questions on premiere elements rather new video , tool:a) have heard that, optimal viewing quality vs file size, regarding exporting dvd 1 should not go below bitrate of: 8 mbit/s.

8 mbit/s on top of scale in pre. wonder rule-of-thumb - or can 1 go below 8 mbit/s maintained viewing quality - in jpeg 10/12 case above - in order save file size? rule-of-thumbs then?

b) eager explore possibilities of premiere elements mp4, h.264 multi-player, usb-input - show on full hd tv 1080p pal.

this first case on workflow, , pre 9 supports advanced settings, please advice me optimal settings here. for:

- desired bitrate

- maximum bitrate

and

- frames per second- more concerning exporting mp4, h.264 video, have in mind?

thank cooperation!

a. can go down 6 or 7 before visible degrading showing.

but trial , error. depends on movement in video, or vbr used or cbr.

b. optimal settings depend on player (read manual on can , not)

in video lots of trial , error , equipment owned.

in other words there no straight answer.

start presets within program , tweak them go along.
