Client Images in LR5.7 won't link to source folder

hi all,

 

i've been driven here in desperation on 2 groups of client images.

 

i rearranged folder structure on hard disk , remapped lr client images new folder locations.  has gone smoothly bar 2 recent client jobs - 1 edited, 1 i've started editing.

 

here's issue, taking photos client "lscc":

 

1. file structure on external hard drive:

 

 

as can see, both nef , xmp files they're supposed on external hard disk e.

 

2. in lr5.7 however, images in "clients 2016" root folder , there no dedicated "lscc" sub-folder under "clients 2016":

 

the images have exclamation mark, showing lr cannot find missing images.

 

3. when try , re-import sub-folder "lscc" (and therefore original files) clients 2016, images in import window greyed out:

 

i therefore, unable re-import them  - when hover on image, window pops informing me "this appears duplicate of photo in catalog"

 

i having same issues client folder "20160507 neesa enagagement" - that's more worrying it's angagement party i'm in midst of editing.

 

i need create "lscc" , "20160507 neesa engagement" subfolders under "clients 2016" in lr, see appropriate images in each , retain edits i've done.

 

as lr won;t let me create 2 client subfolders under "clients 2016", can't highlight , drag images want them be.

 

i way out of depth here , hugely appreciative timely offered.

 

is there way need , retain edits made?

 

or need start both scratch (and lose edits on 400 images)?

have tried locating missing images in lightroom?

the images trying import  grayed out because exist in lr,so not reimport.

try creating new folder "lrcc" , "20160507 neesa engagement" in lightroom.

move respective images these folder drag them parent folder.

 

also take backup of lightroom catalog make safe.
