How can I change the seize of space in an index sheet?

hi there,

i using id cs6 on windows 7.

 

issue 1:

my index file has 3 vertical columns containing names book. trying establish is:

 

horn, johnny             25

hornblower, allistair    49

 

the invisible sign between words , numbers ">>".

the names should left-aligned , page numbers right-aligned. if set whole text "right-aligned" work but:

id keeps making lines breaks though there's enough room. this:

 

hornblower, allistair 

                         49

the minimum space between words , numbers set large.

where can change prevent getting 2 lines instead of one?

 

issue 2:

how can prevent id change font everytime update index file?

1. don't use tabulator (^t) right tabulator (^y, shift-tab) before numbers.
2. use last line right intend , right intend paragraph, similar hanging intends bullets @ beginning of paragraph, here @ end.
