AME crashing during all h.264 encoding

i've been using ame cc 2015 number of months, crashes every time during h.264 encoding jobs.

i've tried changing various parameters, trying different source files , formats, , crashes every single time.

it encodes other export formats without problem -- crashes on mp4 / h.264.

i've tried updating video drivers (nvidia gtx 980), , tried mercury playback software only.

i've tried un-installing, , re-installing both ame cc 2015, , cc 2014 - both still crash.

(encoding same source files on different pc ame cc 2015 works fine).

the new software has been changed on pc in past 2 weeks (since last successful mp4 video encoding on pc) is:

+ unreal engine 4 installed

+ hololens sdk installed

the next obvious steps seem to uninstall one/both of these, prefer not do..

are there detailed log files anywhere upon crashing can indicate actual problem might be?
