Building New Editing Rig, Specific RAM & Disk Questions

building new editing rig premiere around intel xeon e5-2670 v1. 8core/16threads 2.6-3.3ghz 20mb cache. pretty tech savy , have been waiting build broadwell-e rig long, long time. had $2k budget looks 8core sku, i7 6900k, still priced @ $999 , 10core i7 6950x have new price segment of $1200-$1500. i'm not paying $1000 cpu want 8core , came across these xeon e5's $80. they're sandy bridge-ep based, they're 4 generation old cores when compared broadwell-ep waiting for, 10x cheaper. i'm getting motherboard, cpu , fan under $300.  thoughts? should wait broadwell-e?

found x79 asus sabertooth desktop board in great condition off of craigslist. spoke several people using board , cpu combo, know should work fine. reported 8 cores turboing stable @ 3ghz.

my questions ram speed , disk setup (ive read big thread , seen chart dozen times still have questions)

the plan start 32gigs of ram 4x8gig , work way 64gig later if need to, 8x8. of people have seen using cpu have been running ddr3-1866. board can ddr3-2133 rock solid , stable pretty easy based on research, although desktop i7s , not xeons. price difference between ddr3-1866 , 2133 $15 32gigs...how ram speed effect premiere pro? should stick 1866 or go 2133?

disk setup. have 3 disks sure, expand later. 2 ssds , 1 hdd

where should put media, media cache, previews, , export folders? on same ssd? or separate them? boot drive , other on 500gig ssd?

1) samsung 840 evo 240gig: os, programs, media / media cache / previews ?

2) samsung 850 evo 500gig:  media / media cache / previews / exports ?

3) wd black 7200rpm 3tb : finished projects, general storage. media / media cache / previews / exports ?

i add additional 7200rpm hdd...don't know if @ all?

any advice or insight appreciate. opinions on setup welcome too.

cpu , mb sound fine, , lot of bang buck.

get slower ram; i'd advise getting 64gb , not "adding to" later; matched sticks work best; ddr3-1600mhz work fine v1 xeon. you'll notice way more gains premiere pro having more ram vs. faster ram. premiere pro doesn't use more 32gb, system 64gb of ram , premiere set use 32gb of memory works (windows caching, os, use rest).

if have not purchased evo's yet, go pro series samsung ssds.

ssd #1 - os/programs

other drive(s) - depend on workflow, media type, project sizes, drive sizes, etc. build system first , test things out. or post separate thread lots of details. don't think hd much, 2x or more ssds in raid 0 array can help.

regards,

jim
