Force Illustrator to ignore vectors outside a clipping mask
hi there,
while clipping masks became more usable few years back, vectors outside mask still:
- displayed in preview mode
- calculated in circumstances (e.g. pasting photoshop)
having vectors outside mask calculated part of smart object's size (when pasting photoshop) particularly painful.
is there way force illustrator ignore vectors masked out? they're masked out reason!
any pointers in right direction appreciated.
cheers
ben
anything masked out should visible in illustrator when you're in outline mode or when mouse on individual objects contained in mask. if you're seeing masked out shapes in other mode amiss.
the way you're going able masked objects adhere mask when place them in photoshop resize artboard in illustrator same size mask, save file, use file > place linked/embedded in photoshop. method allows use artboard bounding box when place in photoshop. when you're pasting artwork directly photoshop there isn't option use mask , not take account art that's outside mask.
