Photoshop CC: when I try to unlock a background layer it converts image to a blank screen

after last update, when try unlock background layer converts image blank screen! i've been using photoshop years , cannot figure out has changed

would suggest go photoshop preferences > performance > advanced settings > change drawing mode basic > relaunch photoshop , then, check.
