Audio from source clip drops out when added to timeline

hi all-

i'm reason unable move audio timeline clips in project. can see , hear audio waveforms in source monitor, but, when drag clip timeline, audio drops out (while still taking audio track, should dragging both down).

 

i feel there's simple fix here i'm not thinking of.
