ScriptUI: get dimensions of container that uses autolayout?

is there no way dimensions of scriptui container uses autolayout?  root container (window or panel)?  trying write custom layout group , want respond dimensions of window or panel resized, seems info undefined when autolayout used ancestor containers.  there no way find out how big of ancestor containers without writing custom layout managers every single 1 of them?

i believe it's either

 .size 

or

 .bounds 

that return values.
