Strange behaviour - cut & paste

i downloaded court document...  when copy , paste telephone number it, on screen reads 1 number, when copy/paste pastes number different.

 

any ideas cause this?

 

i'd know if document altered - must have been, how remember original number was?  , furthermore, how can prove altered?

which version of acrobat? , pasting to? application produced?

 

in file > properties, see creation , modified dates application. may or may not find out if altered.

when text deleted , retyped in application, impossible know original text was. wordperfect used store changes, don't know of other software does. acrobat not.

 

if go edit pdf > edit in acrobat dc, can see font used. acrobat dc.

 

if scanned , ocrd, may or may not have trouble copy , paste. newer versions of acrobat better, , there choices make when doing ocr affect outcome.
