Does Muse have an innate memory?

hi, ask because have completed site designed fixed width site.  after specifying width 960px in site properties assumed present each page @ constant width.  not so.  after while saw page dimension showing @ 1100px making column measurements joke.  managed correct mysterious behaviour reverting fluid width specification , deleting 1100px measurement. noticed despite specifying page height @ 500 px sticky footer appeared in plan view in square shaped format footer right across middle - suggesting there masses of space below.  however, when viewed in design view there no white page beneath footer.

so muse remember measurements , sizes previous sites - , why, better  - how avoid it.
