Will re-saving a PDF decrease image quality?

i have optimized pdf saved bunch of high-res images in (the pdf art-book uploaded self-publishing site, picture quality important). need go in , edit 3 letters in using "edit pdf" function. if make these edits , re-save pdf (not re-optimize, doing "save as").....will decrease image quality @ all? images photoshop pdfs saved "high quality print" preset.

if make text edit , select file > save, not change ppi of images.

 

if choose optimize pdf, can reduce ppi, depending on settings.
