OT: Amazon S3 Servers for Data Storage?

does here have experience amazon s3 servers used media storage & distribution (like cdn)?

my dedicated server has 500gb more adequate hosting. need add 1tb of media files digital download site.

i'm wondering if amazon fit use case.
is amazon's pricing reasonable (can't make sense out of obtuse pricing calculator).
and if surprises should ready for?

for considering amazon web servers:

i highly recommend thoroughly reading aws documentation beforehand.
you need comfortable working command-line prompt @ least portion of instance (server) set-up -- ssh connections, accessing locally stored keys, chmod, creating buckets, etc...
the aws management console hub things takes getting used to. neither plesk nor c-panel type interface.
important things know:
- aim (creating non-root users , generating access id , secret access keys)
- s3 (scaling, creating buckets, uploading files, setting permissions & meta-tags...)
some familiarity cron jobs & json helpful not absolutely essential.

in summary, aws more advanced might used a commercial web host.
