retaining ratings on import from Nikon camera

i use downtime @ events not cull images (by deleting them camera) rate them, or "conditional cull" marking them deletion.

 

but, when rate photos @ camera, ratings not appear in lr after (or before) import.  nikon d500, latest standalone lr (6.5).

 

searched forum, didn't find anything.

 

suggestions?  possible?

i downloaded sample d500 pic , appeared putting rating in standard metadata field imported correctly lr.  upload sample pic you've rated greater 0 dropbox or similar , post link here.  can troubleshoot.
