Link opening in new tab instead of iFrame

my link opening in new browser tab instead of intended iframe.  additionally, happens *sometimes*.  using exact same code, works fine.  working on new mac desktop os x yosemite. have included code below. thanks.

 

<a href="http://www.cnn.com" target="myiframe">link 2 </a>

does iframe have name="myiframe" (case sensitive) , of links point exact name?
